Cross strings run horizontally across the racket face. It is common practice to string crosses 1 to 2 lbs (or roughly 10%) higher than the vertical main strings to protect the racket's structural integrity, prevent frame distortion, and maintain a consistent sweet spot.

Cross tension is always equal to or higher by 2 lbs than main tension.

Advanced Stringing Options

Main String Tension (lbs) — 24 lbs

Main strings run vertically through the racket. They take the most impact and affect power and repulsion.

Main tension is always lower than or equal to cross tension, with a max difference of 2 lbs. If cross is 26 lbs, main must be 24–26 lbs.

Pre-stretch % (optional) — 0%

Pre-stretching stretches each string before securing it in the frame, minimising initial tension loss and improving tension stability over time.

Racket strings naturally lose a little tightness immediately after stringing. Pre-stretching removes this initial slack so the racket holds its exact tension for longer.

Common values: 5–10%. Leave at 0% if unsure — it's perfectly fine for most players.

⚠️ Yonex strings: Yonex does not encourage pre-stretching. Their strings are engineered with thin multifilament cores — pre-stretching removes the inherent elasticity, making the string feel stiff and brittle, which reduces power, repulsion, and durability.
